Dr. Trisha Schimek, MD, MSPH, DipABLM
Dr. Trisha Schimek is a board-certified Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine physician whose career has been shaped by a lifelong passion for meaningful, root-cause care. She has expertise in women's health including reproductive and menopause care, preventative medicine, clinical procedures, provider wellbeing, and transgender health.
She began her journey in clinical medicine as a true full-spectrum family doctor—caring for patients in hospitals, clinics, and diverse communities across the U.S. and Latin America. Even early in her training, she gravitated toward prevention and empowerment, developing nutrition, fitness, and group education programs for patients in medical school and residency. For 9 years she worked at the Contra Costa Family Medicine Residency program, where she enjoyed teaching and mentoring future physicians
Drawn to lifestyle medicine because it aligns with how she naturally cares for patients, Dr. Schimek focuses on simple, sustainable habits that reduce reliance on medications and elevate long-term well-being. She lives the lifestyle-centered approach she teaches, believing that progress—not perfection—is what creates lasting health. With experience as both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, she brings movement, practicality, and joy into everyday life. She embraces sleep, mindfulness, and meditation as essential tools for managing stress with intention. Ever curious in her own kitchen, she loves finding new and creative ways to bring more fruits and vegetables to her family’s plate.
Professionally she did her undergraduate studies and masters of public health at Tulane University. She studied medicine at Jefferson Medical College and completed her Family Medicine residency at University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is fellowship trained in global health and worked with the Indian Health Service and Partners in Health, Mexico, while completing the UCSF Health Equity and Leadership (HEAL) Global Health Fellowship.
Dr. Schimek loves exploring the world with her husband and two amazing kids—whether they’re camping under the stars, biking new trails, or hiking their way across California. When she’s not outside, you’ll find her out dancing, experimenting with healthy recipes in the kitchen, or curled up with a good book (or out on a walk with the audiobook).
